2024 President’s Outlook

By Nikhil Singal

Happy New Year! On behalf of the CAHL Board of Directors, we would like to wish you a prosperous, joyful, and wonderful 2024.

We are very excited to continue and expand our networking and education offerings and are embarking on several new initiatives this year to create additional opportunities to connect across our 50 counties, support individual career growth, and invest in the next generation of rising health care leaders:

  • Nurturing New Leaders with the Return of College Bowl to Northern California: As part of our commitment to supporting the next generation of healthcare leaders, we are exploring  hosting a regional CAHL 2024 College Bowl for undergraduate and graduate students in the Northern and Central California area! The College Bowl has historically taken the form of a trivia challenge or a case study competition that pits health care policy and management programs against one another. CAHL-area colleges and universities that have participated have had strong showings in the broader statewide competition that joins together the three California ACHE chapters, and we are excited to bring additional programs into the competition with a  regional faceoff.
  • CAHL One-Day Conference: In addition to our Annual Awards Ceremony, we’re pleased to announce that CAHL is planning an additional day-long conference to give our members another in-person opportunity to gather and learn together. We’re currently looking at scheduling it in the second half of the year, and attendees will enjoy networking, education, and the chance to  earn several ACHE In Person Education credits (formerly known as Face to Face credits) toward their FACHE credential. Please be on the lookout for more information on this event. We are excited to be able to support our members in their efforts to achieve and maintain their FACHE certification.
  • Networking & Education: In 2024, CAHL will continue virtual education and networking offerings, and we will also have a strong focus on in-person offerings in the Bay and Valley areas.

I’m honored to continue the work of past CAHL presidents, including Immediate Past President Kelly Flannery. I am grateful for our 2023 and 2024 Boards of Directors and committee volunteers who put in countless hours to support our mission of “advancing our members by providing world class lifelong professional growth through local educational programming, networking, and mentoring.” We are excited for the promise of 2024.
