2022 CAHL Annual Meeting Keynote: Anthony A. Armada

Aug 31, 2022 | Annual Meeting & Awards

The evening progressed into awards and inspiration, following a joyful introduction by CAHL president Michael O’Connell, who captured the sentiment of many meeting outside of video calls for the first time: “People have feet! And they do have shoes! And some people are tall!”

The keynote was delivered by Chairman of the ACHE Board of Governors, Anthony (Tony) A. Armada, FACHE, EVP and Chief Transformation Officer and Partner with Generations Healthcare Network.

Armada continued the afternoon’s message of learning for life, and giving back in service, in his presentation on his leadership journey. His message touched on ACHE’s strategic plan for 2022-2024, in which national leadership and each of us is encouraged to be:

  • Catalysts for the field, to achieve our highest calling to advance health by leading through the lens of equity
  • Connectors for our professional community; and
  • Trusted partners to help other members throughout their careers.

Recalling his first role as a midnight shift medical technologist, his path into numerous leadership roles and ACHE’s role in his growth – as well as the stroke he recovered from last year – Armada inspired the room to give back with energy … but also to take care of ourselves. “Please take care of yourself. And take care of the others that take care of you.”

Be curious, he encouraged. Bold. Empathetic . “It’s what healthcare needs,” he concluded, “but it’s also what the world needs.”
