Tell us a bit about what you’ve been doing as a volunteer, and why you chose this particular role.
Volunteering with CAHL has been a great way to contribute to the organization and build relationships with members and volunteers.
As a Mentor Liaison for the Mentorship Committee, I help new mentors onboard to our program and collaborate with our team to match mentors and mentees. Mentorship has had a big impact on my career over the years, both as a mentee and a mentor, and volunteering in this way is a great way to support other members in their journey.
What’s been the most surprising or rewarding part of your involvement with CAHL?
There are a couple CAHL moments I would like to highlight.
The first one is the CAHL networking event held at ACHE Congress in Houston earlier this year. It enjoyed meeting and getting to know other members better. It was nice seeing this community come together even miles away from Northern California.
My second CAHL Moment is conversations I have had over the years with another volunteer, Laura Palmer. Laura has been a great resource when I was looking to get more involved. She is a supportive and inclusive leader who has helped many of us connect, volunteer, and navigate the organization, and I would like to thank her for the positive impact she’s had on my CAHL journey.
What motto or quote resonates with you as a leader?
Leadership is taking responsibility for finding potential in people and processes and having the courage to develop that potential. – Brené Brown
