HEN Committee Call for Action: Volunteer as a Scholarship Judge

Oct 7, 2022 | Committee Updates

September 2022 was quite the busy month for the CAHL Higher Education Network (HEN) Committee!

Our biggest change was that a new Student Chair was selected: Tehroop Notra from Sacramento State. Tehroop will help lead the student council, which consists of CAHL Student Associates, in moving forward initiatives from a student perspective and ensuring there is representation from CAHL HEN schools through peer-to-peer recruitment and flagship programs.

Also, our year-round on-going programs consist of CAHL School Visits and, now that the school year has started, we are in the midst of planning these events. There are nine CAHL HEN Schools (UCSF, Cal State East Bay, CA Northstate, Sacramento State, CSU Bakersfield, USF, University of Phoenix-Extension, UC Berkeley, CSU Chico). Since we feature healthcare executives as our panelists, we pool volunteers from the CAHL Community and are grateful for the knowledge that the volunteer panelists impart on the students. So far, we have three school events confirmed for Fall 2022 and will need to have at least one school visit (either virtual or in-person) at each of the CAHL HEN schools by March 2023. We lean on our designated school program representatives/ liaisons (which are active CAHL HEN Committee members) to coordinate these events so that there is a constant stream of communication since there are many moving parts.

Lastly, the 2022 CAHL Scholarship cycle closed for students on Friday, September 30th, 2022. At this point we are currently recruiting a group of CAHL Volunteers to serve as judges for the scholarship applications that were submitted. For inquiries on how to volunteer as a scholarship judge, please email cahlscholarship@ache-cahl.org. A selected winner for both the graduate scholarship and the undergraduate scholarship will be announced December 2022.

We look forward to further expanding the student associate reach for CAHL and building future leaders.
