Michael Felder, MS, MBA, FACHE, has passed the Board of Governors exam to earn his FACHE, bringing another board-certified leader into the CAHL community.
How do you see the FACHE credential helping you as a healthcare leader in the future?
In my opinion, the FACHE credential is an attestation to the members’ commitment and dedication to continued growth, learning and knowledge of the broader healthcare industry. I’m absolutely convinced having the FACHE credential will complement my future growth and professional development as a leader.
What advice do you have for members on the fence about pursuing the FACHE credential?
Get off the fence, commit, and get it done!
Could you share a helpful insight or learning from the BOG prep sessions that you wouldn’t have had without them?
The prep sessions were tremendously valuable. The prep sessions brought together a group of individuals with broad experience, knowledge, and education that cannot be obtained by just studying.
What suggestions do you have for learning from peers at work and within ACHE that might not be obvious to someone just starting this process?
Get involved with CAHL. Network in and outside your own organization, ask questions and do not hesitate to ask for assistance or support. Baljeet Sangha prompted me earlier this year about taking the BOG exam. I was contemplating it (yes, I was on the fence), and his encouragement prompted me to commit to preparing and take the exam. Of course, there are many individuals to whom I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude that were part of my journey, too. All the individuals facilitating the prep sessions, especially Nora Powers, and many other colleagues in my organization, along with close friends and family who supported my journey.
