Please tell us a bit about what you’ve been doing as a volunteer, and why you chose to take that particular role.

Since 2022, I have been a member of Career Development & Transition Committee (CDTC) and have also been a mentor in most of the cohorts. In 2023, I joined the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee as a liason for CDTC. This year I joined the Fundraising Committee and East Bay Local Programming Committee (LPC).

During this time, I have had the opportunity to moderate and support CAHL events, participate in great discussions, and most importantly network with incredible health care leaders from Northern and Central California.

Could you share a “CAHL Moment” with us?

I have made tremendous connections in CAHL and learned so much from networking. I enjoy seeing the different ways CAHL committees are run and diversity of people and talent within these groups. One CAHL moment that sticks out was from the JEDI Committee. I took an idea that other members were doing with JEDI at their hospitals and implemented JEDI celebrations on regular basis where I work. Coincidently, I was asked a few months into my time with JEDI to lead my health system’s DEI Forums and Events Committee. From there, I took that idea as well as other topics including the CAHL DEI Playbook.

I shared and provided ideas internally to leadership and led amazing DEI events. I also built a DEI Committee 10 times the size from when I started from 3 to 30 including adding our new CEO per his request.

Could you fill in this blank? “I’m open to being a resource to CAHL members if they need ________.”

A Linkedin Connection, informal mentor, support, or ideas to get involved with CAHL.

What motto or quote resonates with you as a leader?

The meaning of life is to find our gift.  The purpose of life is to give it away.  — Pablo Picasso

What didn’t I ask that you’d like to share?

I am so amazed how quickly you can get networked and meet great people just by going to events both virtually and in person as well as being part of committees.  It is so much fun with unlimited rewards and volunteering is free.

If you haven’t received your FACHE yet, it is worth the investment since this will provide valuable healthcare and leadership education, but the real rewards will be with the network you meet along the way from this small investment of time.
