Mentorship is one of the core benefits of CAHL, and we offer both formal and informal relationships. CAHL has over 110 mentors and has successfully paired over 60 mentees per year for the formal program in addition to informal program.
Mentor Program Goal
This program is designed to enhance the professional development of healthcare practitioners by pairing them with seasoned professionals, thereby enriching their existing skills, knowledge, and educational pursuits. As a chapter of ACHE, CAHL adheres to the ACHE philosophy, viewing the Mentor Program as a platform to broaden learning and developmental avenues for its members. It’s important to note that this service is not intended to secure employment for mentees; rather, it supports current and aspiring healthcare leaders in their journey towards leadership and professional growth.
- Formal Program- The program is offered twice a year, in spring and fall, and spans three months. The
mentor participants are expected to commit a total of 6 hours with their mentee, along with an additional
two hours for kick off and wrap up calls. The matches are based on various criteria, including career level,
experience, interest, and geographic location. - Informal Program- The program operates year-around, facilitating 1-3 mentoring sessions between the
mentor and mentee pair. Identified mentors receive an email containing the mentee’s resume and specific
mentoring needs. The mentors have the opportunity to accept the match, and upon agreement, a warm
handoff email is sent to introduce and connect the mentor and mentee. - Mentors receive four ACHE self-reported volunteer service points per Mentor cohort (approximately 6
months) of service.
CAHL mentors are seasoned executives and mid-careerists who are looking to invest in aspiring healthcare professionals. They primarily facilitate self-directed learning and development, creating and maintaining a supportive environment so the relationship can flourish where the mentee’s development is at the forefront.
