Please tell us a bit about what you’ve been doing as a volunteer, and why you chose to take that particular role.
“I currently volunteer with the Higher Education Network (HEN) Committee, where we’ve recently enhanced our efforts to support students and early- and mid‑career professionals by proactively addressing the questions we hear most often. Our committee has translated these FAQs into a series of articles published in the CAHL newsletter, offering practical, real‑world guidance. Our most recent article highlights insights from professionals with clinical backgrounds who have successfully transitioned into leadership roles.
In addition, we are preparing for upcoming partnership events with the Clinical Leadership Committee and other CAHL committees. I chose to volunteer with HEN because it aligns strongly with my passion for sharing practical, actionable knowledge that peers can immediately apply in their daily leadership practice.”
Could you share a “CAHL Moment” with us?
“Last year, I set a personal goal to advance to Fellow status in 2025. I made that intention explicit – putting pen to paper and committing meaningful time to continuing education – sharing my goal with my family, friends, and leader at work. While that step felt intimidating, I quickly experienced the power of sharing my goal publicly. What followed was an outpouring of support that truly demonstrated the strength of the CAHL community.
Through CAHL, I received encouragement and tangible support from the Advancement Committee and Kevin Clougherty, including access to a loaner study set that allowed me to fully engage in my preparation. Almost immediately, several CAHL members including Teresa Biddle volunteered to serve as an accountability partner – several offering to check in, study alongside me, and offering encouragement. That experience reinforced for me how deeply connected and generous this community is, and how CAHL’s culture of support not only advances individual growth, but ultimately strengthens our profession as a whole.”
Could you fill in this blank? “I’m open to being a resource to CAHL members if they need ________.”
“Support with career questions (it may come up in a future article!), informal mentoring, and of course networking. Happy to connect!”
What motto or quote resonates with you as a leader?

What didn’t I ask that you’d like to share?
