Tell us a bit about what you’ve been doing as a volunteer, and why you chose this particular role.
As Student Council Vice Chair for CAHL’s Higher Education Network (HEN), I help organize events such as school visits and virtual panels, and connect current students to CAHL. I got involved after meeting CAHL professionals through LinkedIn and networking events, where I realized the value of early mentorship in healthcare leadership. Given the lack of structured undergraduate guidance in healthcare management at UC Berkeley, I saw CAHL as an invaluable resource to my personal growth.
What’s been the most surprising or rewarding part of your involvement with CAHL?
The most rewarding part has been gaining clarity on my career goals while learning from professionals with diverse and inspiring journeys. The kindness of CAHL members and their willingness to offer guidance and connection has been invaluable. I’d like to especially thank Yamini Dwarakanath, MHA, and Chandrima Doley, for their generosity and leadership in CAHL HEN. A highlight from my involvement was finally meeting fellow volunteers in person at last year’s College Bowl case competition in Sacramento after working with them virtually for the previous months.
Who or what has been your biggest inspiration as a leader?
I’m inspired by healthcare leaders who find joyful fulfillment in their work and make a meaningful impact. My dad, a doctor serving underprivileged communities in Los Angeles, has further shaped my understanding of leadership by demonstrating what it means to lead with both purpose and dedication. His commitment to patient care and making a difference motivates me to pursue a career that aligns with my passions and purpose.
What’s one passion, hobby, or fun fact about you that others might not expect?
I’m a huge foodie and love exploring new cuisines, restaurants, and exciting dishes! Currently, I’m studying abroad in Hong Kong, and I’ve been having an incredible time discovering the city’s vibrant culinary scene.
Could you fill in this blank? “I’m open to being a resource to CAHL members if they need _____.”
I’m happy to support undergraduate students interested in getting involved with CAHL and exploring career paths in healthcare management. Navigating professional opportunities as a student can be challenging, and I’d love to help others find ways to connect and grow.
