Interested in being more involved in CAHL? We’re looking for volunteers to support our Finance, Mentorship, and Membership and Volunteer Group Committees, as well as our East Bay and Coastal Local Programming Councils. Reach out to get involved.

Chapter Programming
Keep your eyes on your email and the CAHL Events page for timely and topical Virtual Interactive Education Sessions coming from CAHL’s committees and Local Programming Councils (LPCs) later this year. The following topics have been confirmed as part of our upcoming calendar:

  • Coastal LPC:Digital Health in the Healthcare Delivery System
  • Valley LPC:Sustainable Strategies to Support Well-Being for Healthcare Professionals
  • East Bay LPC: The State of Healthcare: Industry Leaders’ Perspectives
  • Clinical Leadership Committee: Developing High Performing Teams

JEDI
The JEDI Committee develops guidelines and programs to support CAHL’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism. In 2024, its goals include:

  • Develop programming content to promote diversity and inclusion for all educational sessions for the year.
  • Regular updates in CAHL Newsletters (see this month’s update from La Toya Watkins)
  • Collaborate with local healthcare organization’s D&I Committees and sustain affiliations with the national/regional professional societies:  Asian Healthcare Leaders Community, LGBTQ Healthcare Leaders Community, National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), National Association for Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE), and Women Health Care Executives (WHCE).
  • Conduct regular virtual networking and educational events to highlight the Heritage Months and facilitate meaningful conversations around JEDI goals and how to achieve them.

Higher Education Network
Congratulations to the HEN 2023 scholarship winners!

Graduate Scholarship Winner Marlon J Washington II is working on his Master of Science in Community Health and Prevention Research at Stanford University. Undergraduate Scholarship Winner Melyssa Lobao is working on her Bachelors in Health Administration from University of Providence. Scholarship winners can use the funds as they best see fit, with the hope that it will go towards their current tuition/educational expenses or other ways to further their education and training within healthcare leadership.

The 2024 Scholarship round will open in September of 2024.  Please look out for more information coming this summer.

Mentoring
The Mentoring committee is in the process of matching mentees with mentors for the formal spring cohort, which will comprise 20 mentors and 20mentees.

CAHL’s informal mentorship program application is open on a rolling basis. In this format, mentees are paired with mentors for one to two sessions.

Applications for the formal fall mentorship program will open in August.
