CAHL Mentor Program
The CAHL Mentor Program provides a structure for healthcare professional development where mentees are matched with seasoned professionals to enhance their current skills, knowledge, and education. Mentor Program provides support and resources for our members at all stages of their careers – the early to mid-careerist, senior-level executive, and those in transition. It is a relationship based on trust and mutual respect in which both the mentor and the mentee have responsibilities and should benefit from the relationship.
Mentors and mentees are matched based on a multitude of criteria including career level, business function, leadership skills and competencies, and career development goals. Also, Mentors receive four ACHE self-reported volunteer service points per Mentor cohort (approximately 6 months) of service.

CAHL Mentor Program Descriptions
Informal Mentor Program
- Inquiries are taken on a rolling basis and participation in the program is voluntary
- Mentees and Mentors: Must be an active member of the California Association of Healthcare Leaders (CAHL)
- Coach-mentor’s and advisee-mentee shall mutually agree on the nature, scope, boundaries and framework of their relationship
- All interaction and documentation shall be between coach-mentor and advisee-mentee; CAHL shall maintain no records whatsoever of the relationship and interactions between the parties.
Formal Mentor Program
- Semi-annual program where mentors will be matched with mentees for a 3-month period of time
- Mentees and Mentors: Must be an active member of the California Association of Healthcare Leaders (CAHL). Mentee applicants must be a member of the California Association of Healthcare Leaders for at least 1 year
- A 1-hour facilitated call will be scheduled for Program Orientation and Program wrap-up. This will include mentor/mentee Introductions, requirements, and expectations
- Mentee is expected to schedule 6 total contact hours with mentor and/or mentor organization staff.
- At least one hour of face to face mentorship during the program is encouraged.

Mentees are expected to complete the Mentor Program Evaluation which will be sent out at the end of the program.
